Julia Melo Kemper, the current owner, has a unique story. Although she grew up surrounded by vineyards, her early career as a lawyer in Lisbon led her away from the family business. However, her passion for her heritage eventually drew her back to the winery. Since launching their first commercial vintage in 2008, Julia has successfully positioned Julia Kemper Wines on the global wine map, earning numerous accolades along the way.
At Julia Kemper Wines, the focus is on preserving the unique terroir of the Dão region while promoting biodiversity. The winemaking team employs organic, biodynamic, and vegan practices that have proven effective over time. Utilizing traditional techniques known as ancestral methods, they create gastronomic wines characterized by complex acidity and delicate aromas, perfect for pairing with a variety of dishes.

My host was very knowledgeable and personable. Her statement that visitors are to be treated as friends and family couldn’t have been more true. Well worth the time. Great wine too

The wine tasting went very well. Rita gave us a nice tour through the vineyard and we tasted 2 wonderful wines. A general remark for the wine tours we have done, is that most of them are oriented towards tourism and not an answer to our needs. We are wine connoisseurs looking for import possibilities. As such we want to understand the full pallet of what a producer has to offer.
Visita excelente. Visita á quinta e adega com toda a explicação da história e processo dos vinhos Júlia Kemper. Seguido de uma prova de vinhos fantástica numa sala escura, clássica e acolhedora com uma vista sobre a quinta onde é também fornecido pão com azeite também produzido na quinta. Vale a pena a visita sem dúvida!
