Arabona Winery – A Centuries-Old Jewel Producing Organic Wines
Located half-a-kilometer away from the historical monument of 1197, the Cistercian Abbey of Santa Maria Arabona, and a short drive away from another ancient Sanctuary of the Holy, the Arabona Winery has its base in the Abruzzo region. Surrounded by rolling hills, a majestic river, and wood, the estate produces high-end wines and extra virgin olive oil. The company is built in gothic style in white stones, enhanced by imposing pillars and vaults.
Witness a Perfect Blend of Tradition with Innovation
Initially owned by the medieval family, Zambra Barons of the 1700s, today, Domenico Radica is the president of Arabona Wine Estate. Pasquale and Dina, the mother and father of Domenico, started the family tradition in the late 1960s. After completing his agricultural studies, Domenico joined his parents and converted the winery into an organic wine farm in 1991. Later the owner’s wife, Marie Antoinette, also began working in the cellar and marketing. The current winery building was established in 2006. The owner introduced several technical advancements in the winery, such as stainless steel tanks, modern machines and equipment, a powerful refrigeration system, temperature-controlled vats, and much more.
Production is Not Limited to Biodynamic Wines
With Southeast facing vineyards, the grapes enjoy the terroirs with good fertility, freshness, and minerality. The family grows various grapes, such as high-quality Montepulciano, Trebbiano, Pecorino, and Passerina. Out of 20 hectares of vineyards, around two hectares of plots are dedicated to olive oil, vegetables, and fruits. Using company-owned products, the family produces extra virgin olive oil, organic jam, and juices.
