Established in 1923, the estate is named after its historic cuvée, Clos du Calvaire. Françoise Roumieux, born Mayard, along with her children Nicolas and Coline, passionately cultivate the unique terroirs of Châteauneuf du Pape, producing wines that reflect the region's rich heritage.
At Clos du Calvaire, we prioritize sharing our knowledge and respect for the environment. Our vineyards are cultivated using organic farming and agroecology practices, promoting soil biodiversity. For over a decade, we have welcomed wine enthusiasts to our estate, located in the southern part of the Châteauneuf du Pape appellation. We had an exceptional time during our visit to the estate. Morgane was a passionate and very knowledgeable guide, making the discovery of the wines even more enriching. Excellent experience with Morgan as a conductor to discover the Châteauneuf du Pape terroir… Beautiful property and visit with lots of information and a lot of kindness from Morgan. Tasting on the Rhône coast as a super friendly wine merchant for friends… For the rest, we move on to the red wines of the estate, nothing to say, it is very well crafted... beautiful expression on the nose and beautiful bouquet of red fruits on the palate... Thank you for this visit and we look forward to meeting you again one day Morgan, for a nice tasting…

We really enjoyed the tour and the wine tasting. We received a very warm welcome, felt like we were among friends from the first minute and were able to ask all our questions and express our wishes. We got to know some outstanding wines and went home with several boxes of these treasures.

Our visit to Clos de Calvaire Winery in Châteauneuf-du-Pape was nothing short of exceptional! From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by our guide, Morgan, whose passion and knowledge of the wines and the region made the experience truly unforgettable. Morgan led us through a delightful tour of the vineyard and cellar, sharing fascinating insights into the winemaking process and the history of the estate. The tasting was a highlight, with each wine perfectly presented and paired with thoughtful explanations of the flavors and terroir that define Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The wines themselves were outstanding, from the bold reds to the elegant whites, showcasing the rich complexity of the region. We left with many bottles to enjoy at home, but more than that, we left with a deeper appreciation for the craftsmanship behind each bottle.
