On a goal to tie the legacy of Bad Kreuznach with new life and potential
The Weingut In den Zehn Morgen History in Brief
Back in 1901, the area of Bad Kreuznach was classified for its highest credit ratings. This classification was later reconfirmed 95 years later in the Atlas of German Wines by Hugh Johnson and Stuart Pigott. Even then the Resiling wines of the area sold at higher prices than those from the well-known chateaux of Bordeaux and Burgundy.
In 2013 the winery was able to seize a great opportunity. The vineyards of the great Ökonomierat August E. Anheuser wine estate which had already been renowned for over 100 years for their prestigious terroir, were offered to Steffen Montigny for sale.
Weingut In den Zehn Morgen Today
The old vine stocks, amended with newly planted Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vines, put Weingut In den Zehn Morgen in the fortunate position of being able to vinify grand wines in and around the historic wine town of Bad Kreuznach. From 2016 the winery is converting to organic winegrowing. 2022 will be the first BIO-certified vintage.
By adopting a gentle approach to winemaking and strengthening the vines from within, Weingut In den Zehn Morgen is improving the fermentation process of Rieslings, Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs. The wines are given a plenty of time to mature, which provides them with natural stability and particular complexity.
The vision of In den Zehn Morgen is only imaginable with responsible cultivation.
