Weingut Johannes Jöbstl, located in the region of Styria, is currently run by the third generation of winemakers and combines traditional values with modern and innovative techniques to produce wines of the highest level. Their wines are award-winning and have a unique fresh taste that gives great drinking pleasure. The business began in 1840, and in 1940, The Walch family bought the winery passing it on to Maria Jöbstl, who owned it until 1991. Then, Johann Jöbstl and his wife took over the winery and expanded production to the size it is now. Under the leadership of Johann and his family, the winery works hard and guarantees wines of the highest quality.

Varieties of Welschriesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Gelber Muskateller, and Chardonnay Grown at the Winery

The Weingut Johannes Jöbstl estate is present in the picturesque Sernauberg close to the town of Gamlitz. The winery is located at an elevation of 390 meters, as the estate is spread over an area of 8.5 hectares. The climate, rainfall, temperature, and soil are perfect in the region for the cultivation of vines. Ideal solar conditions and mixed forest nearby guarantees a great quality of grapes. The main types of grapes that grow here are Welschriesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Gelber Muskateller, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Pinot Blanc, Zweigelt, Roesler, and Roter Muskateller. The best grapes go into the production of their high-quality red, white, and sparkling wines.

Maturation in 150 Year-Old Oak Barrels

Their historic cellar is ancient and is built out of extremely large rocks. The temperature and humidity inside of the Weingut Johannes Jöbstl cellar are perfect for the maturation of wines agin in 150-year-old oak barrels. Other style of wines are also stored in state-of-the-art steel tanks before bottling.
