A new wine venture, although
mature in spirit and with respect
to the past and traditions of the place. For the vineyard is located close to the Abbey of the Benedictine Fathers
in Tyniec, on a hill with a very
meaningful name... Vineyard. Already Jan Długosz
in his chronicles from the 15th century recorded
the existence of a Benedictine vineyard, and there are also other
historical sources. That is why on 17 September 2022, when the
activities of the Tyniec Vineyard were solemnly initiated, there was talk not so much
about the opening as about the renewal of the vineyard.
Although the Vistula is the border for the southern part of the Jura (Tyniec is located
so slightly outside the macro-region), the owners are friends with many of the Jura's
winemakers and have enthusiastically joined
the association.
Cultivation is approached with care and attention here
. Everything indicates that the right decisions have been made with regard to varieties, and nature
treats the location kindly (spring frosts avoid the vineyard). An interesting feature is the small experimental cultivation of seedlings
taken from wild vines from the forest adjacent
to the vineyard. Perhaps one day they will be able to be labelled, identified?
The owners are focused on the first
wines of the 2024 vintage: they will be predominantly single-varietal, quiet, kept in an approachable style, made without
excessive experimentation. Under consideration
is a biological approach to cultivation and natural, low-intervention production.
Tyniec Vineyard is a place even created
for oenotourism activities - it draws extensively on its unique location and rich traditions. There is a guest shed,
and also an attractive structure mysteriously rising from the ground - this place can easily be adapted into a viewing terrace, a stage, or
a cellar.
