In 1726, Charles Louis of Secondat, Baron de Montesquieu, acquired the estate with his friend and colleague Sarrau de Boynet from the Bordeaux Academy. Charles Louis sold the property in 1748 to Mr Bacalan. The Vineyards of Haut-Bacalan The vineyards of Haut-Bacalan covers an area of 30 hectares. The minimum plantation density is 6500 vines/ha.
