Wine tasting and tour at Csetvei Cellar

Despite being a very small operation, the Csetvei Cellar invites visitors to visit the winery and learn how the winemaker produces exquisite organic wines. The winery offers guests a unique tasting experience with their own selection of red, white, and sparkling wines produced by Csetvei Cellar. The focus of the tastings is locally made wines such as Ezerjó 19’, fermented in ceramic Amorphae. This winemaking technique is an ancient way of producing and storing wine in clay jars, like the Greeks and the Romans. This is an elegant food-friendly wine that can be paired well with seafood dishes or charcuterie.

Csetvei Cellar’s volcanic vineyard from Somló grows two fantastic Hungarian grape varieties. First, and foremost, Juhfark, an indigenous grape variety from the wine region with volcanic soils. It’s dry, mineral, crisp, and vibrant. Second, Olaszrizling, or Welschriesling, a rich, bold take on Olaszrizling from Somló. The volcanic soil defines the wine’s characteristics;
however, the Hungarian oak takes the wine to an entirely different dimension.

The duration of the experience is between two and three hours during which guests can taste between 6 and 10 wines for a total cost of 30 Euros per person. This tour also allows guests access to the vineyards, winery, cellar, and tasting room.
