Sartal is a family-owned wine producer located in Alenquer, just north of Lisbon. This company operates three wineries, including Quinta de Sao Jeronimo, Vala Nova, and Quinta da Vassala. For over fifty years, Quinta da Vassala has focused on producing high-quality wines while honoring the land. The winery's cellar has been recently renovated and equipped with the latest vinification technology, ensuring the best possible wine production. Here, American and French oak barrels are used for aging, enhancing the flavor profiles of their wines. The estate spans 400 hectares at the foot of the Serra de Montejunto mountains, providing a stunning backdrop for wine production.

Unique and Flavorful Wines

Quinta da Vassala prides itself on creating unique wines that reflect the terroir of the Lisbon region. The vineyard primarily grows red grape varieties, which make up 80% of the estate. These include Trincadeira, Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Syrah, Castelao, Merlot, Aragones, and Alicante Bouschet. For white wines, they cultivate Fernao Pires, Arinto, Chardonnay, and Seara Nova. The vineyard staff handpicks the finest grapes, ensuring quality in every bottle of red, white, rosé, and sparkling wine. Harvesting often occurs at night to maintain the grapes' natural fruity flavors, thanks to the cooler temperatures. The owners are committed to sustainable practices, transforming the region's natural resources into exceptional wines.
