Artisanal and family winery. Auctoctonal varieties almost extinct.

Bodegas Gratias, in the Vicinity of Castilla-La Mancha

Bodegas Gratias is located between the Cabriel and Jucar Rivers, just 100 km from Valencia. The winery is located on the road to Albacete, in a winegrowing region of distinctive Mediterranean character. Personally tended”” and “”hand-crafted”” are two concepts that define the winemaking methods throughout Bodegas Gratias’ winemaking process. The story of Bodegas Gratias began in 2007 when the owners got together with a group of sommelier and winemaker friends to make a couple of barrels of wine. The grapes for these original barrels came from an old vineyard plot of Ivan’s grandfather and the result of this collaboration turned out to be a very good wine. After a year of reflection, they decided to continue with their winemaking journey, making their first commercial bottling… “”Gratias Maximas””, which in time gave the winery its name.
The vineyards at Bodegas Gratias are at high altitudes, with a range of varying levels of plantings by four hundred meters.

Bodegas Gratias Winery Reviving Local Grape Varieties, Pintaillo or Tardana

The Mediterranean climate and geology at Bodegas Gratiasa provide perfect conditions for the cultivation of vines in the region. The vines are mixed with pine trees and small mountains. Calcareous soil also offer a lot of nutrients to the vineyards, heavily contributing to the quality of the wines at Bodegas Gratias.
The mission of Bodegas Gratias Winery is to make continual efforts in the recovery of local grape varieties that are almost extinct, such as Pintaillo and Tardana varieties. They also strive to work with more widespread varieties such as Bobal, especially with fruit coming from old, bush vines cultivated without any irrigation in a tradition manner.
