Discover Château Brûlesécaille
The Récapet family acquired Château Brûlesécaille in 1924. The castle and vineyards are located in the heart of the AOC Côte de Bourg. Jacques Rodet, the owner, focuses on keeping the traditions and working sustainably. The vineyard of Château Brûlesécaille covers an area of 26 hectares.
The Great Terroir of Château Brûlesécaille
The soil is made of a clay-limestone ridge with outcrops of gravel in places. The grape varieties include 59% Merlot, 27% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Cabernet Franc and 2% Malbec. The grapes are meticulously hand-picked before being placed in the tanks. The winemakers control the fermentation with a temperature control system to obtain a well-extracted wine. They produce two red cuvées, Château Brûlesécaille and Château La Gravière. Château Brûlesécaille contains 60% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc. Château La Gravière contains 80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. Château Brûlesécaille is matured in oak barrels for 12 months and Château La Gravière is kept in stainless steel tanks. The quality of the local terroir enhances the finesse of the Merlot and the texture of the Cabernet at Château Brûlesécaille.
