De Martino Winery, Specializing in Bordeaux Grape Varieties
The De Martino Family came from Italy to Chile in 1934 and settled in the region. They began to specialize in creating wines from the Bordeaux grape varietals. Throughout the years, the family has strengthened as a leading Chilean wine producer in innovation and has become distinguished for producing craft wines from select terroir.
De Martino Winery is known for first exporting and labeling Chilean Carmenere and is the pioneer in producing wine in the Itata Valley with traditional techniques, recovering old winemaking practices.
Vineyards with Best Chilean Terrain
Since its establishment in 1934, the De Martino Winery in the Maipo Valley of Chile has created wines representing the De Martino Family, whose philosophy is to create wines that reflect their origin in the purest way possible, bringing origin and balance together. Over the years, the De Martino Winery has explored more than 347 vineyards throughout Chile, covering most Chilean territory from north to south and from the Andres Mountains to the coast. In doing so, they have selected the vineyards that best represent the De Martino family philosophy and have the highest potential for making exquisite wines.
Balanced Wines with Organic Principles
The wine production of the De Martino Winery is based on organic principles and a timely harvest to achieve balanced wines. The wines are exclusively fermented with native yeasts, disregarding enological components that might alter the grapes’ personality and character. Likewise, aging is completed in stainless steel, concrete, 5000-liter foudres, and used barriques that are, on average, ten years old. The imprint of the wine reflects their origin without any alterations.
