Domain Celine et Frederic Gueguen, a Love For Winemaking from a Very Young Age
In 2013, Celine and Frédéric established their winery, Domain Celine et Frederic Gueguen, with the aim to integrate their vineyards into the environment properly. To achieve this goal, they practice sustainable agriculture to preserve rich and varied terrain. Both of them are coming from winegrower families and choose to run their own estate. Originally from La Chapelle Vaupelteigne, a small village in Chablis, Frédéric became passionate about winegrowing at a very young age. He grew up and worked in the wine field, which fueled his passion for winemaking. Out of passion, he decided to develop his own winery. Céline worked for 12 years at the Domaine Familial Jean-Marc Brocard, owned by her father, which is currently managed by one of her brothers.
Grape Varieties and Local Terroir at Domain Celine et Frederic Gueguen
The wine estate of Céline and Frédéric Gueguen covers 23 hectares of vines in the Chablis and Auxerre vineyards. Although the wine started in 2012, by 2014 the winery bottled 45,000 bottles. They cultivate over 35 different parcels in completely different soils between Chablis, Saint Bris, Chichée, and Irancy. They use Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Aligoté, Sauvignon Blanc, Sacy grape varieties, and their vineyards feature clay-limestone soils, which is suitable for vine development.
