The Feudi Di Guagnano Story

Feudi Di Guagnano winery is rooted in a passion for preserving the rich viticultural heritage of the Salento region. The estate was born from the desire to revive neglected vineyards once tended by elderly vintners. These vineyards, planted with the native negroamaro and primitivo grape varietals, are a testament to the area's winemaking traditions. The name "Feudi Di Guagnano" translates to "rural district," highlighting the winery's deep connection to its land. The estate's emblem, a key, symbolizes the blend of historical significance and contemporary winemaking techniques.

The Winemaking Process at Feudi Di Guagnano

At Feudi Di Guagnano, the focus is on crafting wines from indigenous grape varieties, including negroamaro, primitivo, malvasia nera from Lecce, and verdeca. A select batch of Chardonnay grapes is also aged in French oak barrels for six months, adding complexity to the wine. The winery's philosophy emphasizes the importance of local terroir, aiming to produce wines that reflect the region's history and traditions. Careful attention is given to both vineyard management and vinification, with all harvesting conducted by hand. Located just 5 kilometers from the vineyards, the winery seamlessly connects the two wine-growing sites, ensuring quality and authenticity in every bottle.

I decided to celebrate my birthday by treating myself and my family to an unusual experience in the wine cellar ... and I chose the well-known Feudi di Guagnano winery. Gianvito's kindness was truly incredible from the moment we arrived. He welcomed us into their cellar where we found a table with a delicious tasting of exquisite cold cuts and cheeses and where he made us taste 4 of their best wines ... from the Verdesca, the red Negroamaro, the Rosato and to top it off a precious aged red wine from 2006 ... a delicacy for the palate 😍 During the tasting he explained to us the history of the winery and its wines and really gave us an experience that we will never forget! At the end of the tasting he pleasantly surprised me with an excellent cake (with candle) prepared by his wife (who I would like to thank again on this occasion). The cake was accompanied by a red wine straight from the barrel. The beauty of it all left us literally speechless 😍 We ended the tour with a visit to their vineyards, just a few steps from the cellar, where Mr. Gianvito allowed us to pick grapes to take home as a souvenir and for tasting. Thank you again for this wonderful experience that we will never forget. And as soon as we return to this area, we will definitely visit you again ♥️

We found Gianvitos winery by chance and they were so flexible to give us a great winetasting of white, rose en red wines - together with a cheese and salumi platter. We could visit their wineguards and ended up cutting delicious grapes we took home (together with some boxes of their wines). Thank you for the interesting and well tasting evening.

Incredible experience with Gianvito at the Feudi di Guagnano winery. The wines were exquisite, the taste and the combination with the food were well explained. The service and the great welcome from our host Gianvito were exceptional: with great calm and dedication, in addition to taking care of my wife's gluten intolerance. An unforgettable experience and highly recommended.

Very Good wine, very good environment, and excellent staff! They also fixed very good food accordingly to our complicated groups preference for food. We were one gluten free, two vegetarians and one non-pork eater and everyone was happy! If you don’t want to drive there is a train station with a 15-min walk. 30 minutes train from Lecce. Highly recommended and they were very flexible, we got a private tasting after closing hours!
