What makes Baden wine region special
Baden, which stretches for about 400 kilometers from Tauberfranken in the north to Lake Constance in the south, is divided into nine wine-growing regions. The wine producers in the area have long acknowledged their "blessed by the sun" status. As a result, the only wine-producing area in Germany designated as EU wine-growing zone B is Baden. It implies that the wines must be more mature and have higher natural sugar levels at harvest than they would elsewhere. Warmth, sunshine, and precipitation are an ideal trio of climatic elements of the Baden wine region that are hardly ever found in another wine-growing region in the world.
Baden—Germany's Burgundy
Baden is one of the most significant Pinot Noir growing regions in the world and is known as the ”Burgundy paradise” as it produces over half of the German Pinot Noir. More than half of the land is planted by members of the Pinot (Burgunder) family, including Pinot Noir (Spätburgunder), Pinot Gris (Grauburgunder) and Pinot Blanc (Weissburgunder). This is because of the region's special climatic conditions, excellent soil, and prime locations. Additionally, the regions have many unique grape varieties that yield particularly exquisite wines and attest to the winegrowers' high level of skill in producing wines from these grape varieties.
Wines of Baden—Made By Master Craftsmen, Gently Hugged By The Sun
Baden offers perfect wine for everyone and for any occasion. Each wine has a distinct flavor and production history. Except the main varieties of Pinot family, the Müller-Thurgau, Chasselas, Riesling, and Sylvaner grape varieties are additional well-known traditional ones. However, winemakers are also successfully experimenting with varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon. As for the red wines, the main grape variety in production is Spätburgunder(Pinot Noir). Baden wine region produces almost half of the Pinot Noir production in Germany.
