Tucked into the rolling morainic hills above Lake Garda, Cantina Valetti is more than just a winery — it's a heartfelt tribute to family, tradition, and the art of winemaking. Run by three brothers — Stefano, Luca, and Davide — this intimate estate carries forward a legacy that began in the early 20th century.

Roots That Run Deep

The story of Cantina Valetti starts with their grandfather, Angelo, who planted a small vineyard to support his family. His brother, who had emigrated to America, sent funds back home — the kind of old‑world American dream you don’t hear much about anymore. Angelo’s son, Luigi, would grow that modest farm into a proper winery, and now his three grandsons are writing its next chapter.

A Winery That’s Architecture and Heart

The Valetti winery itself is a striking architectural statement. Think of a chest of stone, steel, and glass, anchored by strong concrete at its core. The building’s steel pillars evoke vineyard trellises, and the glass walls frame sweeping, panoramic views of Lake Garda.

Descending into the cellar, you'll find the red wines maturing in a tranquil underground world of steel tanks and wooden barrels. And above, a hidden terrace offers a full 360° view — a serene spot where visitors can sip, breathe, and take in the hills and the water beyond.

Vineyards, Grapes & Wines

Cantina Valetti’s vineyards sit in the Bardolino Classico zone, a terroir known for producing grapes with balance and elegance. Many of their vines are over 30 years old, a sign of both stability and depth in their wines.

Here’s a snapshot of the grapes they grow:

  • Corvina, Rondinella, Corvinone — classic red varieties.
  • Turbiana (Trebbiano di Lugana), Garganega, Cortese, Trebbiano — for their whites and delicate styles.
  • They also use Merlot and Cabernet in some of their IGT wines.

As for wines, their portfolio is impressively broad:

  • Bardolino Chiaretto Classico DOC and even a Chiaretto Spumante
  • Bardolino Classico DOC and Bardolino Superiore Classico DOCG
  • Richer reds like Valpolicella Ripasso DOC, Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG
  • Elegant whites: Custoza DOC, Lugana DOC, plus an Adelaide Chardonnay Veronese IGT
  • They even have dessert wines and sparkling styles — a well-rounded selection.

One standout is their Lugana DOC, made from Turbiana: fine, mineral-driven, with fruity and floral notes like peach, apricot, and acacia.

The Experience: Tasting with a View

What's extraordinary about Valetti isn’t just the wines, but the way you experience them. Their panoramic lounge, perched above the vines, is a place of calm reflection and stunning vistas.

They offer several tasting formats:

  • A more relaxed sitting tasting in the lounge (around €32) with 4 wines + cheese and cold cuts.
  • A simpler standing tasting in the wine shop (around €24), where you can choose among whites, Bardolino wines, or Veronese reds.

Tours are available (by appointment), and guides speak English, Italian, and German.

Why Cantina Valetti Feels Special

  1. Authentic Family Spirit: It’s not a corporate winery — three brothers keep things personal, grounded, and deeply connected to their roots.
  2. Scenic Beauty: That terrace, the vineyard-draped hills, and Lake Garda — it's a romantic and contemplative space.
  3. Vine Maturity: With decades-old vines, their wines carry concentration, complexity, and a sense of place.
  4. Range & Quality: From crisp whites to powerful Amarones, plus sparkling and dessert wines — they cover a lot of ground while staying true to local identity.
  5. Hospitality: Reviewers mention friendly staff, a willingness to show visitors around, and a warm, approachable atmosphere.
