About the Winemaker

The story of Cantina Destefanis Federico began in 1910 when Michele established a wine cellar and stable on a 20,000 square meter plot between Madonna Dei Cavalli and the road leading to Canale, Alba, and Asti. Over the years, the family faced numerous challenges, but in 2000, Federico’s grandson revitalized the winery, ushering in a new era of organization and innovation.

Aromatic Grape Varieties

With a strong respect for nature, the winery cultivates a diverse array of grape varieties in its family-owned vineyards. The fresh aromas of Roero Arneis, Roero Riserva, Dolcetto, and Barbera Piemonte are sure to captivate wine enthusiasts. Other notable varieties include Barbera D’Alba, Moscato, Piemonte Bonarda, Favorita, Rosato, Nebbiolo, and Arneis.

Under Federico's guidance, the winery has embraced modern techniques while preserving traditional methods. A state-of-the-art bottling machine has been introduced, and wines are crafted under authentic DOCG and DOC labels, aged in concrete casks and French oak barrels. The result is a delightful selection of red, white, rosé, and dessert wines that reflect the unique terroir of the Roero region.
