Cantina Destehanis Federico – Winery with High-End Libero Wines and Charming Roero Hill

Cantina Destehanis Federico winery is situates in the beautiful region of Valpone, in a hamlet of Canale, in Piedmont. The winery is well-known for its high-end Libero wines and charming Roero hills in which they are born. Federico, the fourth generation winemaker, is the current owner of Destefanis, has been dedicatedly following the footsteps of his ancestors.

About the Winemaker

Michele started the story of Destefanis Federico in 1910 by building a wine cellar, along with stable. He purchased 20,000 square meter land in the middle of the area between Madonna Dei Cavalli and a road that leads to Canale, Alba, and Asti. He carried out most of his winemaking passion in Valpone and later passed the family business to his sons, Bernardo and Federico.

The family faced many hard times over the years until 2000 when Federico’s grandson joined the company giving it a new and well-organized phase.

Aromatic Grape Variety

Respecting Mother Nature and its surrounding, the owner cultivates a massive range of grapes in the family-owned vineyards. The fresh aromas of Roero Arneis,Roero Riserva,Dolcetto, and Barbera Piemonte will leave you mesmerized. Some other grape varieties are Barbera D’alba,Moscato, Piemonte Bonarda, and Favorita, along with Rosato,Nebbiolo, and Arneis.

Following the family ties, the current owner has brought many necessary changes in the winery and the cellar. Many traditional methods have been restored anda modern bottling machine has been introduced. They produce delicious red, white, rose, and dessert wines under authentic DOCG and DOC wine labels – refined and matured in concrete casks and wooden oak barrels made from French oak.
