A Historic Winery in the Heart of Piedmont
Cascina Corte Winery
Founded by Sandro Barosi and Amalia Battaglia, Cascina Corte Winery is a dream come true. In 2001, they transformed a long-abandoned estate into a thriving winery, complete with vineyards, fields, and woods. The estate, known as “Cascina Corte,” is rooted in history, appearing on a 1700s map and linked to Ignazio Corte, a notable figure from Dogliani who served as Grand Chancellor in Turin. After extensive renovations, the winery beautifully blends modern and traditional architectural styles, reflecting its rich heritage.
Majestic Vineyards of the Winery
The winery's vineyards surround the farmhouse on the picturesque hills of San Luigi, a prime area for producing Dolcetto di Dogliani. These vineyards, dating back to the late 1940s, yield approximately 45-50 quintals per hectare. In 2002, Sandro and Amalia expanded their vineyards by planting 1.5 hectares with a mix of Barbera and Nebbiolo grapes, historically cultivated in the region. Committed to organic farming, they use only verdigris and quarry sulfur, avoiding chemical fertilizers to maintain the land's natural integrity.
