Mas Polit Winery: Crafting Wines from Native Varieties
Nestled in the picturesque region of Empordà, Spain, Mas Polit Winery is surrounded by the stunning foothills of the Pyrenees, between L’Albera and Cap de Creus. This idyllic setting allows the winery to showcase the unique terroirs and soils through its traditional wines. The owner focuses on native grape varieties to create exceptional vintages that reflect the essence of the land.
Mas Polit Winery has a rich history that dates back to 1572.
High-Quality Wines Under DO Empordà
The history of Mas Polit began in 1572 when Antoni Heras acquired the land. Since then, the estate has remained in the family, with current owners dedicated to cultivating grapes using a blend of traditional and modern winemaking techniques. They produce high-quality red and white wines, all proudly bearing the DO Empordà designation.
Commitment to Tradition and Biodiversity
With a strong respect for ancestral practices and the region's biodiversity, the winery cultivates three primary grape varieties across its eight hectares: Grenache, Shiraz, and Cabernet, alongside the native Monastrell. The vineyards benefit from ample sunlight, resulting in aromatic and flavorful grapes. Hand-harvesting ensures that only the finest bunches are selected for fermentation.
The winery features a fully renovated cellar equipped with modern technology, including stainless steel tanks for fermentation. The wines are then matured and refined in French and American oak barrels, enhancing their unique characteristics and flavors.
