Producing High-End Wines Under the DO Empordà
The tale of Mas Polit is ancient, dating back to 1572. It started when Antoni Heras purchased the land, and since then, the descendants of the family hold the ownership of the estate. Today, following the footsteps of their ancestors, the current owners cultivate grapes to produce top-notch wines using conventional methods of wine production, combined with modern technologies. They produce rich-quality red and white wines, all under the DO Empordà status.
Northern Spanish Winery with Respect to Traditions and the Region’s Biodiversity
Respecting ancestral traditions and biodiversity, the owners grow three main grape varieties on their eight hectares of land. It includes high-end Grenache, Shiraz, and Cabernet, along with native grape variety, Monastrell. The vineyards exhibit aromatic and flavorful grapes that enjoy adequate sun throughout the year. To ensure great quality, the harvesting of grapes is done by hand, and only the juiciest bunches are selected for fermentation.
The wine cellar is entirely renovated and equipped with modern machinery. It consists of stainless steel tanks for efficient fermentation, followed by maturation and refining in wooden barrels made from French and American oak. The wood enhances the organoleptic characteristics of their artisanal wines.
