Captivating Wines from Upper Hungary's Heart
A Family-Owned Gem
Centurio Winery is a charming family-run establishment located in the picturesque Mátra region of Upper Hungary, about 100 km from Budapest. Spanning approximately 3.5 hectares, the winery features two exceptional vineyards, known as ‘Diós’ and ‘Fáy,’ each showcasing unique characteristics that reflect the local terroir.
Balázs Ludányi, the owner and head winemaker, believes in nurturing the vineyard with utmost care while allowing the natural qualities of the grapes to shine through with minimal intervention during the winemaking process.
Commitment to Quality Viticulture
The region's favorable mesoclimate, diverse soil types, and strategic location support organic viticulture and a commitment to high-quality winemaking. Among the grape varieties cultivated, Kékfrankos (Blaufrankisch) stands out as a highlight of the Mátra Hill region. Other notable varieties include Hárslevelű and Cabernet Franc, each reflecting the unique environment and the dedicated craftsmanship of the winemaker. The winery's portfolio also features Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains, Olaszrizling (Welschriesling), Zenit, and Pinot Gris, offering a diverse selection for wine enthusiasts.
