In the heart of Cahors wine region
The Chateau Famaey winery and estate is situated in the South West of France in the heart of the Cahors appellation. The Chateau Famaey story begins with two Belgian friends with a dream of producing wine from the magnificent terroir of the Cahors region. In 2001 this dream came true when the Chateau Famaey was established.
Working with the best enologs
The winery is spread over 40 hectares and the vines are located on the first, second and third terraces of the Lot Valley. On the first terrace the plots are used to produce IGP Cotes du Lot wines. On the second and third terraces the terroir becomes more complex and it is here that the Cahors wines such as Malbec are produced.
At Chateau Famaey all who are involved in the wine making process believe in the constant care of the vines and respect for nature
Wine making methods are carefully controlled to produce, rich, authentic and honest French wines. Part of this means manually harvesting vineyards and making this harvest a traditional annual celebration. The winemakers at Chateau Famaey winery work closely with the best local oenologists to make elaborate fine wines that emphasize the fruitiness and the freshness of the Malbec which is the emblematic grape of the Cahors appellation.
A perfect intersection of tradition and modern
These winemakers believe that they have found the perfect intersection of tradition and modern techniques at the winery. At Chateau Famaey the spotlight is on Malbec and the most popular wines produced are the Chateau Famaey Fut de Chene Malbec and the Chateau Famaey Traditional Malbec.
