Two Friends, a Dream, and a Unique Territory

Located in a charming 16th-century building in the medieval town of Sondrio, Dirupi Winery is the brainchild of childhood friends Pierpaolo Di Franco and Davide Fasolini. Growing up in this picturesque alpine village, they spent their days playing basketball and helping with the grape harvest, a cherished tradition in their community. Their passion for winemaking led them back to Sondrio after studying Enology at the University of Milan.

In 2003, with no vineyard of their own, Faso and Birba took a bold step to establish Dirupi. They entered the Valtellina wine scene with a commitment to quality and sustainability, focusing on innovative practices that respect the land.

The Fruits of Their Labor at Dirupi

Dirupi produces exceptional Nebbiolo wines that capture the essence of the Alps and the rich heritage of Valtellina. Each bottle reflects the region's history while embracing modern challenges, making it a true representation of Lombardy's winemaking tradition.

Not a tasting but a story about Valtellina, a fable about how to find all the aspects of a territory in a glass. Stefano dragged us into the story and if you want to be amazed, you have to treat yourself to DIRUPI.

Stefano was an excellent guide. Precise and comprehensive. It made the visit to one of their vineyards and their winery very pleasant and interesting. His passion for this world made us spend a wonderful afternoon. Dirupi wines are worth it.

We visited DIRUPI on a frigid Sunday in the middle of January and it warmed our hearts and our soul. Thank you to Stefano for the wonderful wine tasting! Your knowledge and passion for the region and wine-making process did not go unnoticed. We had an incredible time learning about the Valtellina wine and of course...tasting the delicious wine as well. Fair warning - you will go home with a bottle (or in our case, two).

Wine tour in the history of mountain Nebbiolo, pure Valtellina style! Absolutely top-notch, competent and professional guide! The vineyards literally seem to be transposed from a painting! The terraces on which they thrive are kissed by the sun all day and overlook the valley, towering over Sondrio. Absolutely worth enjoying in person! The cellar is quite interesting, even before tasting. The price is absolutely adequate for the type of experience offered. Highly recommended! 🥂

The rain couldn’t stop Stefano from explaining in detail how wine from Nebbiolo grapes from the one-of-a-kind Valtellina area is made! The experience is unique and very well designed, it’s more than just a tasting, it was an experience. We visited the vineyard, the storage where grapes were dried, fermentation room and lastly where the bottles were labled. Lastly, We tasted great wine and had to add some luggage allowance to our flight home as we wanted to bring home wine! 😂
