A Passion for Winemaking

Karádi-Berger is a quaint family-owned winery that began as a personal passion. The owners initially cultivated grapes on just 0.5 hectares of land. In 2005, they acquired a charming building that marked the start of their winemaking adventure. This historic structure in Erdőbénye was once home to a former winemaker and belonged to the esteemed Szirmay estate, later serving as a residence for wine merchants.

Quality Grapes from a Prime Vineyard

The vineyard benefits from a south-facing slope, which enhances grape quality. This land, once part of the Diocese of Piš, was classified as First Growth in 1795 by Antal Szirmay. The winery cultivates notable grape varieties, including Furmint, Hárslevelű, and Sárga Muskotály.

Thanks to the favorable orientation, the grapes here can be harvested earlier than usual, achieving an excellent degree of brix.

Restoration of a Historic Winery

The owners dedicated time to restoring the winery, allowing the authentic building to reflect the charm of Budapest's historic puns for several years. The restoration project, completed in 2014-2015 with the support of an EU grant, established three key areas: a winery at the back, a tasting room accommodating 20-25 guests, and a comfortable two-room apartment with a kitchen, perfect for two couples or families.

Zsolt and his wife are great, very nice and helpful! This is more than an Bnb, Zsolt has given his wines to us to try and he has helped us a lot to arrange our wine tour in Tokaj. Also, his wines are great, better than some other big wineries in this region! The rooms, kitchen and garden are very big. Each room has individual toilet and shower, great for 2 small families and couples. You can park your cars inside the gate, it is safe. The rooms are clear and the beds are comfortable. The neighbourhood are quiet, we have slept very well during our stay.
