Experience the Essence of Natural Wine in Navarra
Passion for Wine in Navarra
La Casa De Lúculo, founded in 2004 by Juan Glaria in Mendiforria, Navarra, aims to produce wines that showcase the unique characteristics of vines grown in the region's distinct low mountain conditions, influenced by the nearby Pyrenees. The winery focuses on enhancing the rich personality of Garnacha grapes through innovative winemaking and aging techniques. Named after Lucio Licino Luculo, a renowned gourmet from 1st century BC Rome, the winery embodies a love for fine wine and the arts.
All winemaking processes are carried out naturally, from harvest to bottling.
Biodynamic Practices at La Casa De Lúculo
At La Casa De Lúculo, the vineyards are primarily cultivated using organic methods, steering clear of synthetic pesticides and herbicides. The unique climate, influenced by both the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean, along with cool nights and sunny days, allows for a slow and refined grape ripening process. The soils in the older vineyard plots consist of stony terrain with fine loamy or silty textures, enriched with calcareous marls.
Crafting Quality Wines
In 2006, La Casa De Lúculo partnered with Bodega de Mendigorria, a historic cooperative winery established in the 1950s, which features modern facilities while maintaining traditional aesthetics. This collaboration focuses on barrel aging and bottling. That same year, the winery launched its first vintage, Jardin de Lúculo, crafted from Grenacha grapes sourced from the old Baja Montaña vineyard.
