Experience the Rich Heritage of Rhône's Organic Wines
Mas d'Intras has proudly operated as an independent winegrower since 1982 in the picturesque Ardèche region of southern France. This small family business, rooted in tradition, has been passed down through generations, reflecting a deep commitment to sustainable practices and environmental stewardship over the past 17 years.
Climate and Grape Varieties
The Bas-Vivarais area enjoys a warm and dry climate, influenced by Mediterranean conditions that have developed over the last three decades. The region experiences dominant northeast winds, while southern and western winds bring essential moisture during spring and autumn. The Mistral wind, known for its strength, contributes positively to vine health by reducing humidity. The primary grape varieties cultivated at Mas d'Intras include Grenache, Syrah, and Carignan, which are integral to many Côtes-du-Rhône blends.
Certified Organic Winery in IGP Ardèche
Located 140 kilometers east of the Rhône River and west of the volcanic Massif Central, the Ardèche department encompasses the historic province of Vivarais. This wine-producing area spans 7,500 hectares across 339 municipalities, with a small section extending into the Gard. The IGP (Indication Géographique Protégée) designation allows for both single varietal and blended wines. Red wines make up 45% of production, rosé wines account for 35%, and white wines represent 20%, with 75% of whites vinified as single varietals.
