From Bicycle Journeys to Excellence: Pelassa in Piedmont

Pelassa Winery, located in Montà d'Alba, Piedmont, has a rich history that began as a small vineyard in 1950. Mario Pelassa's passion for winemaking started at the age of 10 when he cycled 43 kilometers to Turin to sell Nebbiolo bottles. Today, his sons, Daniele and Davide, continue this legacy, guiding the winery to international recognition with accolades from esteemed critics, including a remarkable 95 points from Robert Parker. This journey reflects Pelassa's unwavering commitment to quality and tradition.

Vineyard Prowess: Crafting Excellence at Pelassa

At Pelassa, we prioritize meticulous grape selection and clonal planning to enhance the quality of our wines. Our hand-harvested grapes undergo gentle pressing and careful pre-fermentation selection. Red wines experience malolactic fermentation and age in either wood or steel casks, while white wines are bottled in spring and reds in summer. Our focus on the region's unique soil allows us to cultivate exceptional varieties such as Arneis, Nebbiolo, and Barbera, ensuring that each bottle reflects the true essence of Piedmont's terroir.

A rising star in the wine sky. Great wines with a high soul factor! In addition to red wines, there is also a good selection of white wines. Each wine tells a little story. The Arneis San Vito and Tucci are particularly recommended. The Nebbiolos Antaniolo Riserva and Barolo San Lorenzo di Verduno are also great. Top value for money. Be sure to stop by and try the wines. Recommended!

I gave a tasting to my husband for his birthday, on a Thursday. Already via email, I immediately perceived the friendliness and extreme availability of the writer, qualities immediately confirmed upon our arrival at the cellar. We were accompanied on a visit by an excellent guide who gave us various interesting information and proved to be knowledgeable and passionate. And then the tasting begins: 6 glasses of excellent wines (2 Arneis, 1 Barbera, one Nebbiolo, 1 Roero and 1 Barolo) accompanied by local products. We had the pleasure of concluding the tasting in the company of the owner who, when he speaks, makes his love for the family, the land and the vineyard shine through, making the history of this company tangible. We will come back for sure.

Fantastic experience: hospitable family, bright, clean location, first class food and wine tasting, demonstration of the harvest process, explained clearly and professionally. Wines accompanied by just as many charcuterie. We highly recommend it

A very nice wine tasting experience with clear explanations in both English and Italian. Not just sharing the wines, but the history and romance behind it too. We felt very much welcomed, even with little children, and for sure will come back!
