Quinta dos Poços spans 25 hectares in the Demarcated Region of Douro, specifically in the lower Corgo area of Valdigem, Lamego. This region is renowned as one of the oldest wine-producing areas in the world and is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The estate is currently owned by the family of Prof. Doctor Jose Manuel da Costa Mesquita Guimarães. The name "Poços" reflects the abundant springs formed by the region's heavy rainfall.
From Vineyard to Cellar
At Quinta dos Poços, the vineyards are nurtured with care to produce high-quality grapes for their wines. The winery minimizes the use of chemical agents to maintain healthy soil and vines. The slate-rich soil supports a variety of traditional red and white grape varieties, each contributing unique characteristics to the final product. The red grapes include Donzelinho, Rufete, Sousão, Tinta Barroca, Tinta Francisca, Tinta Roriz, Red Dog, Touriga Franca, and Touriga Nacional. The white varieties feature Arinto, Códega do Larinho, Gouveio, Moscatel de Setúbal, Rabigato, and Viosinho. In addition to fine wines, Quinta dos Poços also produces high-quality olive oil and natural honey, both known for their health benefits. Grapes are carefully harvested in small 20 kg boxes to prevent crushing. In the winery, they are de-stemmed and gently crushed before being vinified in traditional granite presses or stainless steel vats.

Went there at the beginning of December with my friends. The owner was very kind and flexible to accommodate us. One of his staff members gave us a detailed tour and answered all our questions. It was beautiful and we had fun. We did not get to taste the wine but we were offered to buy some.

Foi uma excelente e agradável surpresa a visita a esta adega. Conheço muitas adegas, mas em poucas vi uma organização do espaço e limpeza, como encontrei aqui. A few acres are located in the Quinta dos Poços for an indescritively friendly atmosphere. Obrigado Cristiana, Sr João e esposa.

We went there today. Made an appointment ahead of time for a tasting. We were given a very nice and informative tour. But, there was no tasting. Almost comical, but then we purchased a bottle to get an idea about their wines. It was good and very nicely priced. I'm still wondering what their expectation was. Ours was a tasting, but in the end, the very friendly tour made me give them 5 stars. The wine we purchased and tasted on the premises was very good.

Called same day and they were able to arrange a visit. It's a really beautiful micro vineyard. The owner was very gracious with his time and his employees gave us a tour of the grounds and showed us the winemaking process. Much smaller and more intimate than a lot of The Vineyards in the valley I recommend not only a tour but their wine and Port is very good

We loved our visit at the lovely family-owned Quinta dos Poços today. The owner was kind enough to let us visit with short notice. Quinta dos Poços is a beautiful property with amazing views, the friendliest staff, and seriously delicious wines. Cristiana, Mr João, and Andrés were wonderful tour guides that accommodated us as English speakers as much as possible. I highly recommend a visit to this Quinta if you are looking for a memorable experience with amazing wines and the kindest staff. Thank you all again for your generous hospitality, flexibility with our last minute reservation, and warmth. We will never forget this special experience!

What a wonderful tour! I simply loved visiting Quinta dos Poços. I called in the morning to let them know that my husband and I would like to visit the farm that same day. I spoke to Jose, who was very helpful and said that Joao, the caretaker, would meet us there. We were welcomed by João and Cristiana. They were both extremely attentive and explained in great detail the wine production process and the history of the farm. The conversation was immensely fun and enjoyable! The farm is wonderful, the view is incredible, and without a doubt the welcome from Joao (who has worked there for over 30 years and has a special affection for his work) and Cristiana (very sweet and fun) made this tour unforgettable! Thank you, Jose, Joao and Cristiane!
