Welcome to Riofavara Winery

Riofavara is a family-owned winery nestled in the Val di Noto region of southeastern Sicily, renowned for its exceptional wine production. Established in 1920, the winery has evolved by blending rich history and local traditions with modern winemaking techniques. This combination has positioned Riofavara as a leading producer of high-quality wines.

Commitment to Organic Practices

At Riofavara, the winemakers prioritize biodynamic and organic farming methods throughout their vineyards and cellar processes. The warm Sicilian climate, complemented by coastal breezes, creates ideal conditions for grape cultivation. The unique calcareous soil in the Siracusa and Ragusa provinces enhances the natural characteristics of the grapes, resulting in wines that truly reflect their terroir.

Philosophy of Grape Cultivation

The core philosophy at Riofavara is to create wines that resonate with customers and showcase the essence of Sicily. The winemakers focus on meticulous grape cultivation, ensuring the highest quality. Recently, the winery has transitioned to organic farming practices, aiming for sustainability in their wine production. Key grape varieties include Moscato and Nero d’Avola, which are essential for crafting their celebrated red wines.

The grape varieties at Riofavara embody the authentic taste of Sicily.

Clementina was a great host - it was great to learn about the ancient, indigenous grapes used in their wine like Nsjár. We really enjoyed the wines she chose for us based on our personal likes & the setting is beautiful

We booked a tasting that was excellent and carried out by highly qualified staff. Clementina explained to us the peculiarities of each wine we tasted with kindness and sympathy. We are satisfied with the experience and highly recommend it
