Natural Winemaking Practices

The Gorizia Hills provide an ideal environment for grape cultivation, with mineral-rich soil, ample sunlight, and refreshing breezes. At Hiša Štekar, the philosophy is simple: nature should be respected and nurtured. The winery uses only natural, certified organic sprays to nourish the vines, ensuring that both the grapes and wines are authentically organic. Traditional winemaking techniques are employed in the cellar, with minimal intervention to preserve the wine's natural character.

A Legacy of Winemaking

The winemaking tradition in the Štekar family began with great-grandfather Emil, who passed down his knowledge to his son Roman. Roman expanded the family business to include tourism and accommodations, while his son Jure took over the winemaking in 2012. The vineyard cultivates a variety of grapes, including Rebula, Tokai Friulano, Pinot Gris, Mavrovo, Merlot, Rosé, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc, producing exquisite red, white, rosé, and sparkling wines.
