Stekar Wines, Situated in the Picturesque Village of Snezatno
Located in the picturesque village of Snezatno, in the middle of Goriska Brda, Stekar Wines have maintained the centuries-old tradition of winemaking. Great-grandfather Emil is the pioneer of wine production in the family, and he taught his son his procedures in winemaking. Roman gained control over the property next and introduced a hotel and tourism to complement their winery. Since 2012, Jure, Roman’s younger son, is running the estate and has instilled youth and enthusiasm in the company. Their vineyards currently occupy ten hectares of land, but they still want to expand the estate further.
Winery with Perfect Climate and Soil
In Brda, the conditions are perfect for vine cultivation. The soil has a lot of minerals along with sweet sunshine and Alpine and Mediterranean breeze. Environmental concern and sustainable production are the focus. The vineyards are allowed to grow naturally with minimal intervention in the process.
There is no use of chemical fertilizers at Stekar Wines as they are certified as organic winemakers.
The typical grape varieties grown at Stekar Wines are Rebula, Malvasia, Pinot Gris, Filip, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The best grapes are used to produce their splendid red, white, rosé, and sparkling wines.
