Winery Vincenz Richter: the oldest winery in Saxony
Winery Vincenz Richter is the oldest privately-operated winery in the wine region of Saxony. On 10 hectares we grow classic cold-climate grape varieties. The family business was founded in 1873 by Vincenz Anton Richter. Today it is run by the fourth generation of Thomas Herrlich. The steep slopes of the Elbe valley in Meißen are predestined for typical wines with great character, from crisp and refreshing Riesling, over full-bodied Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris to well-matured red blends.
Discover some great white wines
Almost 90% of them are planted with the white varieties Riesling (50%), Müller-Thurgau, Bacchus, Kerner, Scheurebe, Traminer, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris, the rest with the red varieties Pinot Noir and Cabernet Dorsa. Environmentally friendly viticulture is practiced consistently.
With the buildings on Kapitelberg and the vineyard of the same name, the Vincenz Richter winery has found a special wine culture. The vineyard has a 30% slope, with maximum sun and heat. The proximity to the river ensures a favorable microclimate. The yield is strictly limited.
