Located in the Villány wine region—Hungary’s most prestigious terroir for red wines—our south-facing vineyards in Siklós benefit from the country's warmest climate. Founded in 2002 by Ralf Waßmann, a beverage scientist, and Susann Hanauer, a former lawyer, our estate combines German precision with a deep respect for Hungarian land. We manage two hectares of diverse varieties, from Olaszrizling and Chardonnay to Cabernet Franc and Kékfrankos, all carrying the protected DHC Villány seal of quality.
We are proud to be pioneers of the green movement in our region. In 2003, we became the first certified organic growers in Villány, and since 2011, we have held the prestigious Demeter certification for biodynamic viticulture. To us, a vineyard is not just a farm, but a balanced biotope; we eschew biocides and fertilizers, allowing ladybirds, lizards, and birds to act as our natural partners. This commitment to harmony extends to our cellar in Pécsdevecser, where we strictly limit technology. By favoring traditional wooden barrels and steel tanks over heavy machinery, we ensure our wines remain "living" products.
The result is a collection of wines frequently praised by critics for their naturalness and elegance. Rather than overwhelming the palate with high alcohol or heavy oak, WASSMANN wines are defined by their sophisticated charm and vibrant authenticity. For wine lovers seeking something individual, exciting, and deeply connected to the earth, our estate offers a true reflection of the Villány spirit.
