Savor Altissimo Ceto - Aged Aglianico Sauce for Eight Years
Calafe’ Di Petrillo: A Vineyard in Avellino
Located in the picturesque hills of Avellino, Azienda Calafe’ Di Petrillo spans two hectares near Montefredane, in Vigna. The vineyards, nurtured for 15 years, thrive in the fertile region of Prata Principato Ultra, characterized by its rich volcanic soil. This unique terroir, combined with a favorable climate, allows the vines to absorb essential minerals and develop complex aromas, resulting in exceptional grapes.
A Family-Run Winery
Founded by Benito Petrillo in 1999, the winery is a heartfelt tribute to his granddaughters—Camilla, Laura, and Federica. The name "Calafe" is derived from the first letters of their names. Together, the sisters manage all aspects of the winery, quickly gaining recognition for their award-winning Greco di Tufo. With the addition of their niece, Kami, they have also begun crafting sparkling wines using a distinctive Brut method.
Exceptional Wines and Balsamic Sauces
Focusing on two primary grape varieties, Greco di Tufo and Aglianico, the winery produces high-quality white and sparkling wines under the Irpinia DOC and DOCG designations. The winemaking process involves stainless steel tanks for Greco wines and traditional wooden oak barrels for Aglianico, ensuring optimal aging and preservation of the grapes' unique characteristics. Additionally, the winery offers a signature balsamic sauce made from Aglianico, aged for eight years, perfect for enhancing culinary creations.
