A Historic Monastery Transformed into a Stunning Winery
Experience Exceptional Red Wines from Valladolid
Bodegas Y Viñedos La Mejorada is situated in a beautifully restored 15th-century Jerome Monastery, originally founded by Fernando I of Aragon. Located in Olmeda, Valladolid, this winery is part of the Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) of Castilla y León, renowned for producing outstanding red wines. Among its finest offerings are Villalar, Las Norias, Las Cercas, Tiento, and Palomar de la Reina, each showcasing the unique character of the region.
Authenticity from Terroir to Bottle
La Mejorada is dedicated to expressing the true essence of its terroir through its wines. The vineyard practices sustainable farming without chemical interventions, ensuring the grapes reflect their natural environment. The deep sandy soils with clay foundations are ideal for cultivating grape varieties such as Tempranillo, Syrah, Merlot, Malbec, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The surrounding pine forest creates a microclimate that enhances the grapes' unique characteristics, yielding approximately 2,000 kg of grapes per hectare.
Meticulous Wine Production Process
While Valladolid is traditionally known for its white wines, La Mejorada stands out for its exceptional red wines. Each grape is carefully inspected and selected at its peak ripeness. The fermentation process begins in stainless steel tanks, followed by aging in French oak barrels, which adds depth and complexity to the wine. Each bottle of La Mejorada wine embodies finesse and elegance, inviting wine lovers to appreciate the beauty of its landscape.
