The Origin of the Winery

Borgo Conventi is nestled between two renowned wine regions in Italy: Isonzo and Collio. The estate's history dates back to a nobleman who owned vast lands, including the site of the first monastery in Farra d’Isonzo. This rich heritage inspired the name and legend of Borgo Conventi. In 1975, the estate was established with a mission to produce fine, elegant wines that would gain recognition both in Italy and internationally. In 2001, the Folonari family acquired the estate, enhancing its production while honoring traditional winemaking methods. Today, Borgo Conventi spans 30 hectares of vineyards, yielding over 300,000 bottles annually. The wines are carefully aged in old French oak barrels and stainless steel tanks, utilizing advanced technology to ensure quality.

Ideal Terroir for Winemaking

The estate is surrounded by rolling hills and a mineral-rich river, creating a unique terroir that contributes to the distinctiveness of its wines. The region's microclimate enhances the freshness and floral aromas of the wines, allowing for the cultivation of various grape varieties, including Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Grigio, and Friulano. With its rich history and exceptional terroir, Borgo Conventi is a must-visit for wine enthusiasts and travelers alike.

I went with a friend for a visit and tasting. Valentina welcomed us and told us the history of the company with great passion and participation. The wines we tasted were excellent and were presented to us with passion and professionalism. Thank you so much for your work and commitment 🤩

... The night before, I had dinner in the Prosecco street in the Locanda Sandi, and found a Sauvignon from 2012 on the wine list...!!! From the Tenuta Borgo winery. A real rarity that we really enjoyed... So the next day we went to Cillio to pay a visit to this winery. We were warmly welcomed without having to announce ourselves, a great winery with exceptional wines... Aaaand, I was even able to buy the 12 Sauvignin there... The wines are of the highest quality, I'll be happy to come back... Thank you very much

I begin this review by giving special thanks to Ioana for her kindness, professionalism and competence in illustrating the history of the winery and the history of the estate very well. What can I say about the wines? EXCELLENT. We did the tasting route at the open cellars, an experience that I absolutely recommend doing. The estate and cellars are splendid and well-kept. Absolutely to return.

Wonderful winery surrounded by a beautiful landscape. Had a wine tasting with the chance to discuss with the sommelier throughout. She was most kind and knowledgeable. Some of the wines were world-class. Prosecco can also be found there since the winery belongs to a renowned producer.
