A Historical Gem in Friuli-Venezia Giulia
The Origin of the Winery
Borgo Conventi is nestled between two renowned wine regions in Italy: Isonzo and Collio. The estate's history dates back to a nobleman who owned vast lands, including the site of the first monastery in Farra d’Isonzo. This rich heritage inspired the name and legend of Borgo Conventi. In 1975, the estate was established with a mission to produce fine, elegant wines that would gain recognition both in Italy and internationally. In 2001, the Folonari family acquired the estate, enhancing its production while honoring traditional winemaking methods. Today, Borgo Conventi spans 30 hectares of vineyards, yielding over 300,000 bottles annually. The wines are carefully aged in old French oak barrels and stainless steel tanks, utilizing advanced technology to ensure quality.
Ideal Terroir for Winemaking
The estate is surrounded by rolling hills and a mineral-rich river, creating a unique terroir that contributes to the distinctiveness of its wines. The region's microclimate enhances the freshness and floral aromas of the wines, allowing for the cultivation of various grape varieties, including Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Grigio, and Friulano. With its rich history and exceptional terroir, Borgo Conventi is a must-visit for wine enthusiasts and travelers alike.
