Cantine Patria: The Origin

Cantine Patria is rooted in the rich history of the Patrìa district, located near Monreale, Sicily. The Di Miceli family acquired this land in the 1950s, and in 1992, Francesco Di Miceli took over the historic “Torrepalino” wine cellar, established in 1971. He decided to honor the legacy of the original winery by renaming it Cantine Patria, creating a network of wineries across Sicily, with a central hub in Solicchiata.

Vineyards at Patria

The vineyards of Cantine Patria thrive in a unique terroir, characterized by rich soil and a favorable climate. Situated at altitudes between 750 and 900 meters, the grapes benefit from ample sunlight and significant temperature variations, which contribute to their distinct flavors. The winery prioritizes excellence by closely monitoring the vineyards to determine the optimal harvest time based on phenolic maturity. Specializing in the original Etna categories, Cantine Patria produces exceptional red, white, and rosé wines. With strategically located vineyards across the island, the winery selects grape varieties that best suit the diverse Sicilian landscape, resulting in wines that reflect the region's unique characteristics and appeal to discerning wine lovers.

Very interesting visit to the winery, they explain everything very well and if you finish with a wine, olive and oil tasting... you will be delighted. The wine is very good, they have a variety of grapes native to Etna, it is a shame that they do not export to Spain. Very friendly and familiar staff, we felt at home chatting while we tasted those good wines. It is worth it for what you pay.

Stunning winery on the northern slopes of Mount Etna. It's well worth visiting for for wine tasting as well as the panoramic terrace and the Palici Amphitheatre.

Wonderful experience at the Patria winery together with colleagues, in a wonderful place. The owner was friendly and helpful and showed us the best labels and let us taste some types of wine. Simple starter with traditional local sausages and cheeses, first course with mushrooms and to finish a chicken cutlet and ribs. For dessert mini ricotta cannoli. The place is very well kept and there is also a tour of the vineyards with the owners who also act as guides and explain with great skill their family history as Sicilian winemakers. Experience to be repeated.

Beautiful structure, but with untapped potential. During a tasting, I noticed that it was becoming a classic Sunday outing, with people bringing friends and relatives. They should separate corporate tastings from family tastings. The lunch wasn't a good showcase either; being a venue also used for ceremonies or events, it didn't leave me with a positive impression: the pasta was overcooked and flavorless, the fillet dry, and the appetizer was uncommented. The wine is different, but it's still an experience worth having.

We visited this winery today where a quality wine is produced. I was pleasantly surprised by the Sicilian wines. The children and we had a great time and were treated very well. Thank you Raquel for your explanation in Spanish. It was worth it. Recommended without hesitation
