Located in the picturesque village of Merenii Noi, just 25 km from Chisinau, Carlevana Winery benefits from a unique landscape that shields its vineyards from harsh winter frosts and summer droughts. This comprehensive winemaking facility oversees every aspect of production, from vine care to bottling and sales, ensuring quality at every step.
Spanning over 151 hectares, the winery's vineyards primarily feature Riesling, Sauvignon, and Rara Neagră grapes. Notably, Carlevana is among the few wineries in Moldova cultivating Sauvignon Gris and Pinot Gris. Currently, it boasts the largest vineyard area dedicated to Riesling and Rara Neagră, showcasing the region's rich viticultural heritage.
Carlevana Winery is a trailblazer in Moldova, introducing advanced Western winemaking techniques. It is also the first winery in the country to produce Ice Wine, crafted using traditional methods. Among its standout offerings is the Port Mereni 2004, a dessert red wine made from Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. Aged in oak barrels, this wine features a deep ruby color and a complex flavor profile with hints of blackcurrant and prunes, making it an excellent pairing for cheeses, charcuterie, and Mediterranean dishes.
Thanks to the expertise of its winemakers and technologists, Carlevana Winery consistently garners accolades at national and international wine competitions. In 2002, its wines were recognized as the first Moldovan selections included in the prestigious “1000 Best Wines of the World” catalog, published by the French Association of Oenology.

Write a reviewCozy, atmospheric. The staff is polite, smiling, and pleasant. Unfortunately, there are a few nuances. They don't know how to make a cappuccino, winery-style, but still. The pâté is served with four thin loaves of bread, which isn't enough. We had grilled meat and vegetables, which were delicious. The baguette is served with butter, not cream cheese. We ordered placemats, but they served two, like they did at a supermarket. We plan to visit again, but we hope for changes.

A beautiful venue, which is also a winery!!We had a small family gathering for 30 people and we’d absolutely recommend to anyone looking for a place to celebrate, or just enjoy a glass of wine on the fabulous terrace. The staff is very friendly and receptive. The chefs grills dishes we most raved about. There’s a playground with a zip line- which was a hit for all the kids. A fire pit perfect to keep us warm and cozy in the evening. The wine is remarkable and the collection is extensive.
