Château Cojușna – Where Moldova’s Wine Heritage Lives On

Nestled in the heart of Moldova’s Codru wine region, Château Cojușna tells a story born from centuries of tradition and devotion to the art of winemaking. Viticulture here dates back to ancient times, when monks from the nearby monasteries of Căpriana and Condrița cultivated vineyards and crafted sacred wines for religious rituals.

Building on this legacy, Château Cojușna was founded in 1995 by Grigore Panus, a visionary determined to preserve the spirit of Moldovan winemaking. Between 1997 and 1999, the winery, production facilities, and the emblematic Wine Tower were built, surrounded by more than 200 hectares of vineyards spread across the protected geographical area of Codru PGI.

The winery cultivates both international and native grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Saperavi, Alicante Bouschet, Ancellotta, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Muscat, Fetească Neagră, and Fetească Albă—each expressing the unique terroir of Codru, with its forest-protected hills, mineral soils, and ideal microclimate.

Visitors are invited to explore underground wine galleries, oak-barrel maturation halls, and the first French Charentais distillation installation in Moldova. The journey continues through elegant tasting rooms, a Wine Museum rich in history, and the panoramic Wine Tower, offering breathtaking views over Cojușna village and its surrounding vineyards.

Today, Château Cojușna stands as a symbol of authenticity and craftsmanship, where every bottle captures the harmony between tradition, land, and passion—turning each visit into a true discovery of Moldovan wine culture.

Personally, I am a professional person who is very good at my job. Recomand cu mare drag Chateau Cojușna tuturor celor care vor să se bucure de vin bun și de o escapadă relaxantă, aproape de Chișinău.

We had an excursion around the winery an then dinner at tge restaurant. The excursion was interesting. We visited several buildings with wine cellars, a hall for wine tasting and a gallery with their wines. The restaurant, however was not so great. It was noisy, overcrowded and they had no desserts though there were several in the menu.

Taking this tour gave me absolutely amazing emotions! Everything was perfectly organized — beautiful, well-thought-out, and very comfortable. The food was delicious, the excursion was fascinating and rich in experiences, and the wine was simply outstanding! On the way back home at the airport, I even wanted to buy wine from the same winemaker — that’s how much I loved it! Unforgettable impressions!
