The Winery

It is in the south of the Côte des Blancs, in Courjeonnet, a small village on the edge of the Saint Gond marshes in the Petit Morin hillsides, that the Chéré family farm extends.

Winegrowers from father to son since the end of the 19th century, the members of the family have passed on their passion for vines and wine with a constant concern for quality, respect, tradition, and environmental issues. Etienne Chéré began marketing his products in the early 1980s.

Today it is his three children who continue in his footsteps while taking into account the impact of practices that respect the soil and the vines. With this in mind, the farm has been certified HVE (High Environmental Value) and VDC (Sustainable Viticulture in Champagne) since 2018.

Using Local Grapes to Produce Exquisite Wines

Etienne Chere are independent winemakers, and all their wines are made using local grapes. The microclimate here features a moderate oceanic and continental climate. The terroir has soil composed of chalk, Cuisian sands, Lutetian limestones. These conditions are perfect for growing quality grapes. Apart from this, all the work in the estate takes place through organic and sustainable methods. Sustainable farming helps them to preserve the vines and protect the ecological balance in nature. The grape varieties they grow are Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier, and Pinot Noir. The best grapes are used to make champagnes, white, and rose wines in the Champagne AOC. Their flagship champagne, Cuvee Marie, is vinified in oak barrels and has a unique finesse and elegance.

After an initial introduction during the wine fair in Seclin, we visited the house on site. We received a very friendly welcome in a nice room for the tasting, a real mini-museum... Here too, a nice champagne for a fair price, a pity that we received the wrong box... although the first bottle has also tasted good in the meantime... .we should have paid more attention ourselves... Remembered for the future.
