The Story of Colle del Saraceno

Our property is located at 470 meters, on the slopes of the hills around Montefalco, in the center of Umbria. It was founded in the early 1900s by the Botti family and has continued to expand since then thanks to great work and a tenacious will.

It has always included “Sagrantino” vineyards; therefore we have continued to preserve the traditions and techniques of winemaking for decades, even when elsewhere they had almost disappeared. The same ones we continue to use today, supporting natural processes without forcing them. The quantity of grapes that are vinified - only a part of the entire harvest - in the family farmhouse is very limited, in order to maintain high and constant quality over time. Our production philosophy is in this sentence from Virgilio: Praise the Great Farms, Grow a Small one.

Excellent hospitality and impressive tasting with cheese and sausage pairings. Also very genuine and not one of those "tourist bus stops"

This experience deserves 10 stars. A company a stone's throw from Montefalco where the owner Francesco, with his kindness and experience, will make you enjoy the area to the fullest. We tried his Sagrantino and I found it FABULOUS, DIVINE, SPECTACULAR. I would never stop praising the goodness of his wine, not to mention the Passito wine that leaves you speechless, his oil is also excellent. I will definitely return as soon as possible.

A wonderful moment of sharing with Mr. Francesco Botti. We left with a delicious wine that will rest before being drunk, thinking of its producer. This moment will remain in our memories. Unfortunately, it was impossible to share the promised photos. Thank you, Mr. Botti. We will not forget you. Colette and Luciano

Today, 10/11/2022, on the occasion of my thirtieth birthday, my parents opened a bottle of your dry Sagrantino 2005 vintage purchased in 2008, which they had forgotten they had in the cellar, at lunch. Apart from a minimal amount of sediment, passed through the decanter, the wine was still in excellent condition. We will soon also open the bottle of Sagrantino passito purchased during the same visit to your company. Congratulations!

Local wine producer that offers high quality Montefalco wines, white wines but above all reds that can please any palate. Special flavors, unmatched and at completely affordable prices. A selection for all times of the day, from aperitif to dessert, without forgetting the olive oil. Another delight. A warm welcome, a generous tasting led by the owner with intelligence and passion, which certainly deserves its award in the backpacker's guide. I highly recommend it.

Excellent experience during our 2022 wine tour. Mr.'s conversation was very pleasant. Barrels both in the land and in the cellar. All his wines are very good without forgetting the oil production. Thank you for a wonderful morning.
