Corte Figaretto in famous Valpolicella
Corte Figaretto is a small winery in the heart of the famous Valpolicella region, the Valpantena Valley, to the north of Verona. The precious vineyards have southern exposure and perfect for making red wines. The family has a deep love for viticulture and winemaking in the territory between Quinto and Poiano. Now, step by step, they manage 10 hectares in Valpolicella Valpantena. The new vineyards are located in the small villages around the winery, and the different soils and expositions confer to the wines different nuances.
Reduce, Retrench, Respect
Sustainability is the keyword of our winery, that’s why we are part of the Valpolicella RRR project: Reduce, Retrench, Respect. For many years they don’t use herbicides anymore, there are more control and respect for water and soils. Moreover, all the production is certified sustainable for the environment. The winery is the only one in all Valpolicella wine region, which works with the system of vinification per gravity. This means they don’t use pumps in the time between grape and most. Here berries break alone with the natural movements of fermentation, which is always made by spontaneous yeasts.
Natural conditions around the winery
The vineyards are exposed to a Mediterranean climate with contained rainfall. Evening breeze from the Lessinia mountains cool the day and guarantee wide temperature differences that help the grapes to be ripe and get optimum anthocyanin and polyphenolic substances. These qualities give unmatched qualities to their wines. Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, Molinara, Oseleta, and Croatina grapes are used to make natural Valpolicella red and white wines.
