Domaine De La Chanteleuserie: A Rich Heritage

Located in the picturesque Bourgueil appellation of Benais, Domaine De La Chanteleuserie has been a family-run vineyard for nearly eight generations. The estate began with a modest manor house and 3.30 hectares of land. In 1848, the family constructed their first winemaking cellar, which now serves as the tasting room and storage for bottles. By 1948, they had gained recognition as one of the first Burgundy exhibitors at the Paris Agricultural Show. Over the years, the vineyard expanded, leading to the construction of a new cellar, while the original cellar was transformed into a tasting space. Today, the estate spans over 19 hectares of thriving vineyards.

Tradition Meets Innovation

With over 200 years of experience, Domaine De La Chanteleuserie has adapted to changes in winemaking practices while maintaining its commitment to quality. Most vineyard work is performed manually, allowing for minimal intervention and promoting healthy vine growth. The combination of soil management and a well-organized grassing system fosters a natural balance in the vineyards. Organic products are used to ensure that the grapes reflect the essence of their environment. The winemaking process employs traditional wood punching vats, a time-honored technique, alongside modern tools like temperature control and analytical monitoring to ensure optimal vinification.

The Terroir of Domaine De La Chanteleuserie

The unique terroir of Domaine De La Chanteleuserie is shaped by its soil, subsoil, climate, and the dedicated care of its vineyard team. Two distinct terroirs are found within the Bourgueil and St Nicolas appellations. To the south, near the Loire River, sandy and gravelly terraces produce fresh, fruity wines. In contrast, the northern clay-limestone slopes, which face south and are shielded from northern winds by a forest, yield rich, tannic wines that age beautifully in the cellar.
