Discover Domaine Jorel
On the western edge of the upper Agly Valley, in Roussillon, Manuel Jorel started winemaking at Domaine Jorel. He bought a few parcels of land with old Macabeu vines extending the vineyards and planting vines of Grenache, Carignan, Malvosie, and Mourvèdre as well as Muscat d’Alexandrie to the adjoining Lesquerde. Today, Manuel Jorel grows 14 different grape varieties and some of the vines are more 60 years old.
The Amazing Terroir of Domaine Jorel
The vineyards of Domaine Jorel are at the border of two continents, Africa and Europe. The land mass was part of the African continent but merged with Europe millions of years ago contributing to the diversity in the terroir. The vineyards are spread over seven hectares, and all the work is done manually. The vinification of the wines of Domaine Jorel takes place below their home, west of Maury. The production at Domaine Jorel is entirely organic, the winemakers believe that minimal intervention is the right approach in both the cellar and the vineyard.
