Hopesgrove Winery: close to Paki Paki
Hopesgrove Wines is a boutique, family-owned & operated winery situated in the limestone hills near Paki Paki. They make single-vineyard, small-batch wines, with all levels of production being family-run. They have three hectares of vines planted, sustaining a balanced canopy with low yield and high-quality fruit, making single-vineyard wines that are distinctive, rich, artisan, and crafted exclusively from their hand harvested fruit.
Award winning wines
After a few years of traveling back and forth between California and Hawkes Bay, winemaker Pieter Koopman, his wife, and two young children moved to New Zealand in 2005. They planted grapes in the Burgundy and Northern Rhone varietals and selectively matched rootstocks and clones to the site-specific microclimates. In 2009 Pieter crafted the first vintage of Hopesgrove winery.
Their wines are the result of meticulous vine care, selectively low yields, and a traditional winemaking style which adheres to the belief that ‘Less is More’, and that wines should reflect a pure expression of their unique terroir.
Their wines have consistently rated over 90 points in both NZ and USA, with the recent 98 pts. & double Gold medals for the 2010 Silver Lining Syrah at the 2015 International Wine competition in San Francisco
