Macchie Santa Maria Cantine: A Boutique Winery in Collio

Humar Vini is nestled in the picturesque hills of Valerisce di San Floriano, in the renowned Collio region of Italy. Founded in the early 20th century by Antonio Humar, this family-run winery has been dedicated to revitalizing over a century-old vineyard, transforming premium grapes into exceptional Collio wines. Surrounded by stunning natural landscapes, the estate offers a serene backdrop for wine production.

The dedication and expertise of the Humar family result in healthy grapes and meticulous wine crafting, aging, and bottling, all supported by advanced enology techniques.

The Unique Terroir of Humar Vini

The vineyards flourish on the slopes of friable marlstone in San Floriano del Collio. Positioned between the Julian Alps and the Adriatic Sea, the Collio hills benefit from a temperate and dry microclimate. The soil, rich in minerals and microelements, contributes to the unique characteristics of the grapes. Key varieties cultivated here include Pinot Bianco, Ribolla Gialla, Friulano, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon, alongside notable reds like Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Pinot Noir. Humar Vini focuses on local grape varieties typical of the Collio appellation, blending innovation with a deep respect for tradition.

Beautiful wines and incredibly nice presentation of the wines in the shop. Will definitely come again if I come back to the area and buy even more wines to take home next time.

I attended a tasting invited by a friend. I was pleasantly impressed. The owner's wife has set the table as if for a dinner, with focaccia, cold pasta, omelette, cured meats and cheeses. I really appreciated the fact that, apart from the salami, it was all vegetarian (I had been warned). He explained to us in detail all the characteristics and pairings of each wine. By the way, really good. An experience I will definitely do again. I recommend everyone to try.
