Russo Siciliano - Distillerie dell’Etna

The Distillerie dell'Etna dei F.lli Russo has a rich history dating back to 1870, making it the sole distillery currently operating in Eastern Sicily. Located on a picturesque hill in Santa Venerina, Catania, this distillery is just a stone's throw from the stunning Ionian coast and the majestic Mount Etna. Over the years, the Russo family has honed the ancient craft of distillation, passing down their expertise through generations. In the early 1900s, the distillery began producing alcohol and cream of tartar from lees and marcs, supplying various industries in America, including pharmaceuticals and food production. After World War II, the focus shifted to crafting Brandy and Grappa, with the Grappa dell'Etna becoming a flagship product. Today, the distillery offers a diverse range of ten grappas, including white, barricade, aromatic, and flavored varieties, along with a fine prickly pear distillate. The renowned Limoncello di Sicilia soon followed, quickly gaining popularity for its quality and authenticity, reaching markets beyond Italy. More recently, the distillery has introduced two successful lines of Rosoli and Cremoncelli, which have been well-received by both consumers and industry experts. At Russo Distillery, the commitment to preserving tradition is evident in every bottle. The raw materials—fruits, citrus, and herbs—are still processed using artisanal methods to maintain their unique aromas and beneficial properties.
