Crafting Exceptional Shiraz from Australia's Prized Regions

Two Hands Wines was founded in September 1999 by Michael Twelftree and Richard Mintz during a friend's engagement party. Their goal was clear: to create outstanding Shiraz wines that highlight the unique characteristics of Australia's top wine regions. Unlike many Australian wines that blend grapes from various areas, Two Hands focuses on showcasing the distinct flavors and qualities of individual vineyards, allowing the fruit to shine in every bottle.

Blending Tradition and Modernity in Barossa Valley

The first vintage of Two Hands was produced in 2000, starting with a modest investment of $30,000 and just 17 tonnes of fruit. With strong connections in the US and UK, the brand quickly gained recognition, leading to the launch of the Garden Series in 2003. That same year, Michael discovered a dilapidated cottage next to Marananga Creek, which would become Kraehe House, the home of Two Hands. The Cellar Door and Bakehouse opened in December 2003, offering visitors the chance to taste flagship Shiraz, Ares, regardless of their background or budget.

Advancing Winemaking Excellence with a State-of-the-Art Winery

By the end of 2004, Two Hands had built a state-of-the-art winery designed for small-batch production. This facility allows for meticulous handling of each fruit parcel, ensuring that the unique regional and varietal characteristics are preserved. The winery has become a hub for innovation, where new varietals and techniques are tested. As production expanded, the winery incorporated a wider range of Shiraz from the Western Ranges of Barossa, enhancing the complexity and flavor profiles of their wines.

Had a wonderful time at two hands wines. Dropped by for a walk in tasting on a Thursday afternoon. I went with the pride & place tasting flight which included a range of 6 wines. Was introduced to two hands, as well as understanding that they specialise in more red wines. Really enjoyed the tasting, they have good Shiraz options. I left with a bottle of my own, would definitely recommend having a visit

Two Hands is a place for a famous reason. I recently visited Two Hands with a precious guest. He was very happy to come to the two hands winery in person because he had experienced two hands in Korea. The employees' explanations were perfect and introduced not only wineries but also slightly larger pets and cows they raise. The grape farm and its pets were so well matched and beautiful.

Had a great “Search for the Holy Grail” experience at Two Hands. Luke was an excellent guide through our extended tastings, and my husband and I both learnt a lot. Thoroughly enjoyed the trip to the Holy Grail vineyard and discovering more about the vines themselves. And what an awesome view greeted us there! Loved meeting Brutus and the family. Hardest part was deciding which wines to take home with us as we loved them all! I thoroughly recommend this experience.
