Fourth Generation Family Ownership

The winery was founded in the late 1800s by D. Asensio Carcelén Herrero. His son, D. Juan Carcelén Herrero, expanded the business significantly by innovating the bottling process, which opened new markets for their wines. D. Asensio Carcelén Cutillas later took over, further enhancing the winery's reputation worldwide. Today, the fourth generation, led by Juan Carcelén Gilar, continues the family legacy of quality winemaking.

300 Hectares of Premium Vineyards

Asensio Carcelén Winery spans 300 hectares, primarily cultivating Monastrell, Syrah, and Garnacha Tinta grapes. Monastrell, known as the queen of the vineyards, thrives in this region. The winery is certified for producing red wines within the Jumilla D.O. area. Harvesting is done manually, ensuring only the best bunches are selected and transported to the modern wine cellar for fermentation in stainless steel tanks.

In 2006, the winery relocated closer to the vineyards to enhance productivity and quality. Juan, the owner and enologist, has integrated advanced technology and quality control measures while honoring family traditions and respecting the environment. This commitment results in superb Spanish wines that reflect the unique terroir of Jumilla.
