Vriniotis Winery: A Family Tradition in Edipsos
Located just a short drive from Edipsos, Vriniotis Winery is nestled in the picturesque village of Yialtra. This family-run estate has a rich history of grape cultivation and wine production, benefiting from a stunning landscape that provides a perfect microclimate and mineral-rich soils for viticulture.
The roots of Vriniotis Winery trace back to Konstantinos Vriniotis’ ancestors, who began cultivating grapes in the Edipsos wine region.
Over time, the family established a charming old stone winery that still stands today.
Blending Tradition with Modern Techniques
Konstantinos, the current owner, oversees operations in a newly built, modern winery adjacent to the original stone structure. He skillfully combines traditional winemaking methods with innovative techniques and advanced equipment. The estate maintains the local architectural style of Edipsos, featuring soft colors and an underground fermentation tank that enhances the winemaking process.
Diverse Grape Varieties: Aidani, Assyrtiko, and More
Spanning 100 acres, the vineyard is home to a diverse selection of family-owned grape varieties. Konstantinos cultivates Aidani, Assyrtiko, Malagouzia, and Monemvasia across the scenic slopes of Yialtra Edipsos and Mount Teletrio. Additionally, he grows the ancient Greek red variety Vradiano, along with fruity Mavrokountoura and Syrah. These carefully selected grapes are fermented to create high-quality red, white, and rosé wines, as well as exquisite dessert and fortified wines.
