Experience Exceptional Wines in the Thracian Valley
Zagreus Winery: A Legacy Since 1998
Founded in the autumn of 1998, Zagreus Winery spans 120 hectares of lush vineyards in the Plovdiv Plain, a prime winegrowing region in Bulgaria's Upper Thracian Valley. Here, grape varieties such as Mavrud, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Merlot thrive under ideal climatic conditions, allowing them to ripen beautifully by July. This environment is crucial for producing high-quality wines that reflect the unique terroir of the region.
In 2013, Zagreus Winery proudly became a certified organic wine producer after a rigorous three-year transition.
Organic Practices for Quality Wines
Since 2010, Zagreus Winery has adhered to European Union standards for organic wine production. The winery avoids synthetic pesticides, fertilizers, and genetically modified organisms, ensuring that every grape is cultivated naturally. This commitment to organic farming not only enhances the quality of the wine but also promotes sustainability in the vineyard.
Winemaking Philosophy
Zagreus Winery is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities that manage the entire winemaking process, from grape harvesting to bottling. The winery emphasizes that the quality of wine is influenced by both the vineyard's conditions and the winemakers' intentions. Their philosophy centers on nurturing the best grapes in a sustainable manner, ensuring that each bottle reflects their dedication to quality and environmental stewardship.
