Located at an impressive altitude of 1,200 meters in Mölten, above Terlan in South Tyrol, Arunda Winery produces 130,000 bottles of sparkling wine each year using the traditional Metodo Classico. With over 45 years of experience, Arunda stands out as the highest sparkling winery in Europe. **Crafting Quality Sparkling Wine** The unique climate of the Tschögglberg region plays a crucial role in the winemaking process. The secondary fermentation begins in spring at an ideal temperature of 12°C, slowing down during winter to around 10°C for a resting phase. Each bottle of Arunda sparkling wine spends a minimum of 30 months on the lees, allowing for complex flavors to develop. **Sourcing Exceptional Grapes** Quality starts in the vineyard. Arunda maintains close relationships with local grape growers who cultivate classic varieties such as Pinot Bianco, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir at various altitudes. These grapes are the foundation for the base wines that are later blended into exquisite cuvées, showcasing the unique terroir of the region. **Leadership and Tradition** In 2023, Arunda welcomed a new winemaker and managing director, Wolfgang Tratter. With a successful background in viticulture and winemaking in St. Pauls, Tratter brings valuable experience to the winery. He has a long-standing relationship with Josef Reiterer, the founder of Arunda, and together they aim to honor the winery's traditions while introducing innovative ideas for future growth. Arunda Winery is a must-visit destination for wine enthusiasts seeking to experience the artistry of traditional sparkling wine production in one of Europe's most stunning locations.

A cellar tour followed by a sparkling wine tasting. This sparkling wine tasting was one of the best tastings I have ever experienced. When do you get to taste so many different sparkling wines?

The three of us had the pleasure of taking a tour of the highest sparkling wine cellar in Europe and I can say with complete confidence that it was one of the best experiences I have ever had. From the moment we entered the winery we were warmly welcomed and transported into a world of bubbly delights. The tour itself was first class, unique and extremely informative. Sonja was not only passionate about the art of sparkling wine production, but also incredibly knowledgeable. She explained every step of the process - from grape harvest to bottle fermentation - with such enthusiasm that you immediately felt how much love and dedication goes into each bottle. You can clearly feel that the people there live for their product. The opportunity to look behind the scenes and learn more about the traditions and techniques of the family business further enriched the experience. The subsequent champagne tasting was simply unforgettable. We got to try different varieties, each with their own unique character and taste. The combination of the sparkling aromas and the beautiful atmosphere of the winery made this part of the visit a real treat. It was a feast for the senses! In summary, I can only warmly recommend a visit and a guided tour. It is not only educational, but also a real treat for all sparkling wine lovers and those who want to become one. I will definitely come back! The visit took place in September 2024.

Excellently crafted sparkling wines. Prices are appropriate for the quality, but not really cheap, even then more on the level of champagne.😉🍾
